Island Grouper or Abade,Fuerteventura Nature

Island Grouper (Mycteroperca fusca), also known as Comb Grouper and known locally in Fuerteventura as Abade and Abadejo can be found in Fuerteventura waters.
Reaching a length of up to 80 centimetres they are brownish or dark grey body colour and irregular pale blotches and spots. When stressed they are capable of reversing their body colour and pattern. Juveniles are mottled greenish brown, with prominent white spots on the head and the body, with the dorsal, anal and caudal fins have white streaks. The lower jaws protrude well beyond the upper jaws.
