The small fishing village of La Lajita is situated on the east coast of Fuerteventura between the towns of Tarajalejo and Costa Calma in the municipality of Pajara. The Corralejo Canarian Market takes place in the El Campanario Shopping Centre in Corralejo, Fuerteventura and is open every Sunday between 10:00 and 14:00.

Apart from the market there is a good selection of restaurants and cafes and live entertainment. There's also a tower with magnificent views of the surrounding area and the island of Lobos. El Campanario is on the number 6 bus route which runs between Puerto del Rosario and Corralejo.

The busy tourist town of Corralejo has a harbour, which was originally used by local fishermen, and now has a marina, and a ferry terminal. From here you can take the ferry to the nearby island of Lanzarote, passing the island of Los Lobos on the way, which you can also take a ferry to.

Del Carmen Saltworks Museum

The Del Carmen Saltworks Museum is located in the Del Carmen Saltworks at Las Salinas, Fuerteventura.

The only saltworks in Fuerteventura still in operation, comprised of 10 intake ponds, nearly 1000 condensation ponds, the salt warehouse, the salt worker’s house and  the remains of the old quay. The Saltworks produces fine white salt of the highest quality which is very rich in trace elements due to the cleanliness of its water and the method of obtaining salt from sea foam combined with the traditional daily skimming. At the museum you can witness the whole process and discover its fascinating story, there's also a restaurant and a shop where you can purchase salt.

The Los Molinos Interpretation Centre in Tiscamanita makes us aware of the importance of grain to Fuerteventura and its importance to the economy of the island for centuries. The grain was harvested from wild seeds and ground in stone mortars and hand mills in the days before windmills.

As well as exploring the different rooms of this old building,discovering the history of cereal cultivation,the milling systems and Gofio (toasted cornmeal) there's also a widmill you can go inside.

Follow the dirt tracks up to La Pared, known as the surf paradise of the west coast. Here, you can enjoy an amazing view of the Natural Park of Jandia. Return to Costa Calma and take amazing pictures in Playa Sotavento.
