The Grey plover (Pluvialis squatarola) can be seen around the coast of Fuerteventura often foraging for marine invertebrates and crustaceans by standing and watching, running forward, pecking, then standing still again.

These medium-sized plover are up to 30 centimetres in length and have a wingspan up to 83 centimetres and are mostly grey as their name suggest, they have a white underside,a dark bill, dark coloured legs and quite large dark eyes.
