The Los Molinos Interpretation Centre in Tiscamanita makes us aware of the importance of grain to Fuerteventura and its importance to the economy of the island for centuries. The grain was harvested from wild seeds and ground in stone mortars and hand mills in the days before windmills.
As well as exploring the different rooms of this old building,discovering the history of cereal cultivation,the milling systems and Gofio (toasted cornmeal) there's also a widmill you can go inside.
Opening hours: Open daily from 10:00 until 18:00 between the 1st of May and the 31st of October, and from 09:30 until 17:30 between November the 1st and April the 30th

Tiscamanita is an inland village in the north of the municipality of Tuineje. The majority of the island's preserved windmills are found here and at the Centro de Interpretación you can discover how it was that the milled grain fed the population. Therefore you can enjoy a trip back in history as well as the breathtaking landscapes that Tiscamanita has to offer.
