Corralejo Dunes Beach Road Closed to Non Superhero Traffic.
HotCorralejo Dunes Beach Road was closed for vehicle access on August 10th 2018, and will remain closed until October 6th 2018. It's not certain if bicycles are allowed access but access on foot doesn't appear to be restricted and according to Google Maps cycling is permitted.
Anyone wanting to visit the popular beaches and the sand dunes will have to go on foot either from Parque Holandes by the Don Pepe roundabout or from the Hotel roundabout at the Corralejo end.
This appers to have happened at very short notice, to prevent anti closure protesters from gaining momentum we assume. As usual on Fuerteventura information is sketchy, however it's thought that this is a trial period to measure the impact of the road closure, so that the authorities can then decide if they will close the road permanently or not.
The filming of the movie Wonder Woman II is taking place along the road during the road closure, which seems a bit odd unless they are on foot or can fly.
Buses between Parque Holandes and Corralejo during the road closure have been scheduled and it's quite worrying to see the wording "DUE TO THE INITIAL AND PROVISIONAL CLOSURE OF THE ROAD THROUGH CORRALEJO DUNES. FROM 10 AUGUST TO 6 OCTOBER" which indicates that a permanent closure is on the cards.
There's an active petition against the closure which can be signed by visiting the following link; https://www.change.org/p/gobierno-de-canarias-di-no-al-cierre-de-la-carretera-de-las-dunas-de-corralejo
