Gran Tarajal, Fuerteventura
The charming coastal town of Gran Tarajal features a variety of bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops, along with a dark sandy beach, a harbor, and a marina. It is conveniently reachable by bus from Puerto del Rosario. Visitors can enjoy fresh fish caught locally at numerous restaurants in the area.
The name Gran Tarajal dates back to 1740, when a battle took place in Tuineje involving an English privateer and a ship called Grand Tarajal. Historically, the port of Gran Tarajal played a significant role in exporting the island's entire tomato harvest. Today, the town is primarily inhabited by locals and expatriates. Additionally, it houses one of the largest lime kilns on the island, the Gran Tarajal Lime Kiln, which was established in 1953.
