Common Cuttlefish,Fuerteventura Nature
The common cuttlefish or European common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) can be seen in Fuerteventura waters with a sandy bottom near rocky reefs down to depths of 200 metres.
One of the largest cuttlefish species they can reach up to 49 centimetres in length and 4 kilograms in weight. Their colour varies due to their their unmatched camouflaging abilities and often they have a zebra-like pattern on their back.
Cuttlefish can be bought in the local supermarkets in Fuerteventura and can be eaten in local restaurants.
