The Puerto del Rosario Agricultural Market is held every Saturday between 08:00 and 14:00 above the bus station in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura.

All fruit and vegetables are grown locally , the fish is caught from the shores of the island and the Goat Cheese and meat are produced locally.

Buses from the major tourist resorts of Caleta de Fuste and Corralejo go to and from the bus station.

You can find all kinds of goods here, and it's perfectly fine, and often expected to haggle which can be quite entertaining, so grab yourself some bargains. In among the Ray Ben sunglasses, and the Gucci handbags for a tenner you can find some quality items such as hand made jewelry, and African wood carvings, well worth a look around.

Apart from the Street Market, Caleta de Fuste, also known as Caleta, or Castillo has many bars, restaurants, and coffee shops, there are some nice beaches with fine golden sand and crystal-clear water, and a small harbor. Other nearby facilities include a convention centre, two golf courses, and a casino.

Lajares Craft Market (Mercado Artesanal de Lajares) is held every Saturday between 10:00 and 15:00 in the small square in Plaza de Los Lajares, Lajares, Fuerteventura.

You will find all kinds of products made on the island, the market is held between third Saturday in January and the ladt Saturdaty in December

The small inland village of Lajares is famous for its exquisite embroidery, and the famous Majorera craftswoman Natividad Lopez opened a workshop here. This village is home to some superb architecture, the houses are built from volcanic rock, the same rock that adorns the landscape.

La Alcogida Ecomuseum

To visit La Alcogida is to experience the way of life of Fuerteventuran peasants over the last few decades. Stone houses, whitewashed and with gabled roofs, welcome the visitor to the La Alcogida Eco-Museum, located in the village of Tefía in Puerto del Rosario. Its roofs are made of “torta” (a mix of water, earth and straw) which, with the advent of winter rains, is what gives the walls their ancient appearance. In summer the walls are repainted to once again display their pure and perfect white.

For centuries Fuerteventura was the granary of the Canary Islands. Grain left its ports to supply other islands. Today this past is remembered in the Casa de la Cilla, in La Oliva, a place not to missed by those interested in finding out about the backbone of the Fuerteventuran economy until a few decades ago.

In Fuerteventura “cillas” were created in Betancuria, Tindaya, Tetir, Tiscamanita and La Oliva. The purpose of these warehouses was to safeguard the Church’s crops and produce, either those obtained from their own livestock and lands or those that were due by way of tithes.

The Los Molinos Interpretation Centre in Tiscamanita makes us aware of the importance of grain to Fuerteventura and its importance to the economy of the island for centuries. The grain was harvested from wild seeds and ground in stone mortars and hand mills in the days before windmills.

As well as exploring the different rooms of this old building,discovering the history of cereal cultivation,the milling systems and Gofio (toasted cornmeal) there's also a widmill you can go inside.

Betancuria Archaeological Museum

This museum has two exhibition halls equipped with explanatory panels, one for Aboriginal material culture and the other to the spiritual world, both exhibit some archaeological pieces belonging to the Aboriginal stage of the island. The museum began with the donation by old Fuerteventurans of various pieces found by accident in the fields. Vicente Ruiz, a resident of Betancuria, was the one commissioned to gather and organise the material.
