Day of the Canary Islands
The Day of the Canary Islands (Día de las Canarias) is a public holiday in Fuerteventura on May 30th each year.
This event celebrates the islands' culture and commemorates the autonomous Canary Islands Parliament's first session on May 30, 1983.
Public transport operates a Sunday timetable, banks and goverment offices are usually closed along with certain shops including supermarkets, especially those located outside of the main tourist resorts.
